FALL 2020 REGISTRATION

Ashland Youth Soccer is excited to announce that registration for the Fall 2020 season is open on July 1st!  (Should the season need to be cancelled due to a surge in COVID, players will again receive a full refund.)

There are a number of changes to the typical Fall season registration process due to the ongoing situation. Please see the information below for each program, and the FAQs at the end of the document.

ABOUT ASHLAND YOUTH SOCCER

Ashland Youth Soccer is a 100% volunteer-run program with the mission of teaching children of all backgrounds and abilities the game of soccer through the development of individual skill, fitness, teamwork and fair play.

Outdoor programs are run for players ages 4.6 years-of-age through 12th grade in the Spring, and players in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade in the Fall.  Details for the programs offered in the Fall are outlined below.

Volunteers are critical to the success of AYS. If you are able to volunteer as a head coach or as an assistant coach, please sign-up when you register your player.  Training is available for coaches (both new and existing). Without volunteer coaches, there can be no teams, and even if you are unavailable to coach, there are other opportunities to contribute to the success of AYS so please consider contributing your time.

  • 2nd/3rd grade players typically practice once per week in the evenings and play games on Saturdays (games times will vary each week).
  • Please indicate any weeknight or Saturday morning schedule conflicts in the comments section when you sign-up. Note that Saturday practices/games for all ages will vary each week depending on which team they are playing. Schedules will not be finalized until late-August/early-September
  • Specific Player or Coaching Requests will not be honored.
  • AYS supplies the first in-town shirt for free, and it will be provided at the first practice. Subsequent shirts may be purchased by contacting the in Uniform Coordinator.  Information regarding uniform purchases will be sent out in late-August/early-September.
  • Please note on your calendar that your child’s coach will contact you in late-August/early-September with team information and practice schedules.

Travel (Grade 3)

AYS has not decided whether or not there will be 3rd grade travel this fall.  A decision as to whether or not to have 3rd grade travel teams will be made in early August.  This decision will be based on the following – the number of players expressing an interest in travel, the number of players registered for the 2/3 in-town program and recommendations from BAYS, MYSA and other organizations.  If your child is interested in 3rd grade travel, please register for the 2/3 in-town program by Saturday, August 1st, and check the box that says that you would like to play travel.  Please keep in mind that if you do register for 2/3 in-town and select travel, there will be no refunds provided if AYS does not have a 3rd grade travel team and the 2/3 program moves ahead as planned.  Also, if you’re child does end up playing 3rd grade travel, you will be asked to pay the $20 difference in fee between in-town and travel.

Travel (Grades 4-8)

  • Grades 4-8 Travel players may register by Saturday, August 1st for Travel in Fall 2020
  • Grades 4, 5, 6 & 7/8 typically practice twice per week in the evenings.  Games are on Saturdays. Game times will vary each week. Season runs 10 weeks beginning September 12th
  • In the event that there are not enough players for a grade-level to field a complete team, AYS may combine adjacent grades to create a complete team.
  • The Uniform Coordinator will be scheduling dates to purchase uniforms in late-August/early-September.  Travel uniforms are $50 for the full kit.  Shirts, shorts, or socks may also be purchased separately.
  • Please note on your calendar that your child’s coach will contact you in late-August/early-September with team information and practice schedules.

Important:  Travel Team Selections
